My contribution

Book jacket concept & complete layout

Tools & workflow

Adobe InDesign

The brief

Design a complete wraparound jacket for a fictional dark fantasy novel, carrying one concept across the front, spine, back, and author flaps.

My approach

I developed the keyhole concept and used a forest photograph inside it to suggest a passage into an unfamiliar world. Forest green, pale paper, and restrained gold details connect the jacket panels. I arranged the title, story description, testimonials, and author content into distinct levels of information.

How I developed the work

Decisions & execution

01

Develop the central concept

I used the keyhole as the visual anchor and treated the forest image to work within that composition.

02

Extend the visual language

I carried the color, borders, and typography across the front cover, spine, back cover, and flaps.

03

Resolve the complete jacket

I balanced the testimonial placement, author area, publishing assets, and text hierarchy within the wraparound layout.

From concept to complete jacket

One doorway. A whole world.

The keyhole turns the forest photograph into a glimpse of another place. The same restrained palette and framing carry that story around the entire book.

01 / Concept

A view through the keyhole.

I used the photographic image inside a familiar shape to create a visual invitation into the story. Its large scale makes it the front cover’s focal point.

02 / Information

Each panel has a job.

The front establishes title and atmosphere, the spine identifies the book, the back introduces the story and testimonials, and the flap gives the author a separate area.

03 / Continuity

Details that travel.

Forest green, pale paper, fine gold borders, and recurring ornaments connect the panels. The repeated keyhole outline gives the inner flap a quieter echo of the cover.

The final deliverable

Putting the decisions into practice

The complete jacket demonstrates how one central image concept can support both a distinctive cover and a consistent layout across the remaining panels.
